Help With Numbers
By far the most questions I get asked at this site are math questions. It seems that everyone from grade one through to university needs some help figuring out how those numbers work.
Unless your question is something I can explain thoroughly, I will likely point out to you the best places to go to get the expert help you need with your particular problem. In sending readers to these sites, I have noticed a few in particular which come up time and time again. Let's take a walk through them. Maybe some of them will contain exactly the help you are looking for:
- Ask Dr. Math is one of my personal favourites. Like the name suggests, you can submit problems, but first check through the many questions already listed. These are organized by school level, with sections for elementary school, middle school, high school, and college and beyond.
- Math.com is split into sections including Pre-Algebra, Trigonometry, and Statistics, among others. You can also quickly find a list of the Hot Subjects, that are most commonly searched. Each section gives you lessons, examples, and interactive exercises to complete.
- Geometry Junkyard is a list of links on a wide variety of geometry topics including, but not limited to, circles and spheres, fractals, geometric models, knot theory, lattice theory, polyhedra and polytopes, and three-dimensional geometry. You should be able to find everything you've ever wanted to know about geometry here.
- Math Central is a site that is a little short on content, but the Quandaries and Queries section is useful. Here you can submit a math question or browse through the database of previously asked questions.
- WebMath is a new and unique math site. You can get immediate on-line help here on radical expressions, quadratic equations, fractions, factoring polynomials, units conversion, and much more. This is a very helpful site and is a great addition to the realm of math sites already out there.
